Visit the Musée de la Marine. The MAYDAY! exhibition tells the story of how sea rescue has been organized on France's coasts since the 1960s, and highlights the key players involved. On the one hand, it reveals the largely unrecognized role of the CROSS, to which all distress calls converge, and from which the actions of all players, private and public, are coordinated. Secondly, it pays tribute to the volunteer lifeguards of the SNSM, who are responsible for more than 50% of all operations every year.
